Shelby Baptist Medical Center:Located in Alabaster, this facility is equipped with 252 beds and sees over 51,000 patients in the emergency department every year. Shelby offers advanced technology resources including a 3 Tesla MRI, a robotic surgery program, and a state-of-the-art cardiology suite. Shelby offers a full range of services to meet the diverse needs of patients including fast, life-saving response times for patients with chest pain or stroke symptoms; cardiology, including specialized surgical services; orthopedics, including rehabilitation; and psychiatric care.

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients

Job Responsibilities
"The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Technician is responsible for:
-Operating and maintaining the hyperbaric chamber and associated systems as prescribed by a physician
-Monitoring patients in the chamber, including recording condition and ensuring comfort during treatment
-Maintaining applicable operating, maintenance, and safety logs
-Maintaining accurate patient records"
Education
"Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Must be certified and/or licensed in one of the following vocations or hold a diploma from an accredited institution in one of the following professions to meet the minimum education and experience requirements: Respiratory Therapist; Physician’s Assistant; EMT or Paramedic; Military Corpsman; Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse; Nurse Practitioner; Physician or Physiologist; Certified Nurse Aide,
Certified Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician"
Experience
"Required: Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a hyperbaric technician in healthcare.
Preferred: Wound care, hyperbaric medicine, and/or experience in emergency medicine or acute care hospital. "
Certifications
"Required: BLS
Must complete Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course as approved by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology within 90 days of hire
Preferred: Certified Hyperbaric Technologist from the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology"
