Job Summary
Responsible for the set up of telemetry on physician orders by ensuring proper placement of electrodes, running strips, and replacing batteries as needed.
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the monitor technician include reviewing cardiac rhythm patterns, identify rhythm abnormalities, noting irregularities in the monitoring patient log, ensuring that heart monitors are functioning correctly, and reporting any patient cardiac charges to the nursing staff.
Monitor technicians, should have good analytical and techical skills, a working knowledge of medical equipment and software, as well as good communication skills when interacting with staff and the ability to remain calm in stressful environments.
Education
▪ A High school diploma or GED.
▪ An EKG or monitor technician associate degree, diploma, or certification is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 6 months experience in cardiac monitoring or hospital clinical environment.
Certifications
Special Training
▪ Heartsaver preferred within 90 days of employment or transfer
▪ Arrythmia Course
▪ EKG Test with a passing score of 90 or higher
