Summary

Under minimal supervision, performs basic diagnostic ultrasound procedures, as requested by a licensed physician.
Exercises professional judgment in providing health care services, to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.
May be multi-credentialed in the area of sonography.
Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.
Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Produces high quality diagnostic sonographs as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
  • Assists with amnio procedure biopsies
  • Processes and files films as needed


Qualifications:

Requirements

Must be ARDMS (OB-GYN) in good standing.

Fetal Echo Credentialing is preferred but must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

First Trimester Screening Certification is preferred but must be obtained within 6 months of hire. This includes Nuchal Translucency, Nasal Bone, Tricuspid Valve and Ductus Venosus certifications.

Prior Maternal Fetal Medicine experience is preferred. Otherwise, two or more years of experience in OB ultrasound is required.

Position is Full-Time, Monday through Friday (8-4:30).

Sonographer must be able to adapt to the clinic quickly, and demonstrate a strong work ethic. Must adhere to Maternal Fetal Medicine protocols, perform studies in accordance with AIUM guidelines. Sonographer must be able to work efficiently and manage time efficiently in order to keep up with the schedule and performance expectations. Take constructive criticism well and apply knowledge to scanning the high risk pregnant patient. Perform exams in a caring, empathetic, professional and ethical manner. Produce high quality diagnostic ultrasound images. Demonstrate good critical thinking skills. Gives report of findings and pathology for ultrasound to the physician. Follow and maintain accurate billing and coding policies.

Education

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography
Preferred: Associates degree

Experience

Preferred: 1-3 years

Certifications

Required: Must be registered with ARDMS or ARRT(S) within 24 months of graduation (12 months of hire). BLS certified.
