Position Summary:

To provide safe and effective patient care, through the performance of specific duties as the Surgical Technician in the Operating Room during surgical and other invasive procedures under the direction of a registered nurse. Performs routine scrub duties according to AORN standards and established policies and procedures of the department of surgery. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment for all. Keeps current and operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies and equipment; assists with the ongoing Performance improvement Program. Required to work flexible hours and be on call nights, weekends and holiday.

Position Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved operating room technician program.

EXPERIENCE

  • One or more years experience as an OR Surgical Technologist preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

  • American Heart Association BLS
  • For Certified Surgical Techs-Certification required
  • Demonstrates yearly competencies specific to unit.
  • Ability to take call.
