Ophthalmic Tech Medical Lead Texas Eye Care Network

• Serves as lead worker to Ophthalmic Medical Tech. 
• Assists Physician with all pain procedures, including positioning and emotional support.
• Aids in explaining the procedure to patients and assists in psychologically preparing patients for procedures, communicating effectively with patients and families as well as physicians and peers. 
• Participates in the patient recovery and discharge process. 
• Ensures that all instruments and supplies are available as needed during procedures.
• Maintains equipment and autoclaves, performing daily checks and cultures, and documenting the appropriate records. 
• Monitors cleaning solution daily for potency, and records results appropriately. Properly sets up sterile field for procedure: by preparing table, sutures, local anesthetic, and trays.
• Washes and decontaminates/sterilizes all instruments per manufacturer recommendation and verifies that all essential equipment is functioning properly each day. 
• Cleans and restocks procedure rooms and processing areas, ensuring that all equipment is stored properly. 
• Maintains inventory of supplies, assisting in the receipt of incoming supplies. 
• Assists in all rescues and/or resuscitative efforts as deemed necessary by attending physician, Medical Director, and/or Center Manager. 
• Assists with the transport and discharge of patient.

Qualifications:

Education:
Required:  High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
Required: 1 year of Ophthalmic Medical Tech experience.        

Certifications:
Required: AHA BLS.
