Job Details
- Serves as lead worker to Ophthalmic Medical Tech.
- Assists Physician with all pain procedures, including positioning and emotional support.
- Aids in explaining the procedure to patients and assists in psychologically preparing patients for procedures, communicating effectively with patients and families as well as physicians and peers.
- Participates in the patient recovery and discharge process.
- Ensures that all instruments and supplies are available as needed during procedures.
- Maintains equipment and autoclaves, performing daily checks and cultures, and documenting the appropriate records.
- Monitors cleaning solution daily for potency, and records results appropriately. Properly sets up sterile field for procedure: by preparing table, sutures, local anesthetic, and trays.
- Washes and decontaminates/sterilizes all instruments per manufacturer recommendation and verifies that all essential equipment is functioning properly each day.
- Cleans and restocks procedure rooms and processing areas, ensuring that all equipment is stored properly.
- Maintains inventory of supplies, assisting in the receipt of incoming supplies.
- Assists in all rescues and/or resuscitative efforts as deemed necessary by attending physician, Medical Director, and/or Center Manager.
- Assists with the transport and discharge of patient.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Required: 1 year of Ophthalmic Medical Tech experience.
Certifications:
Required: AHA BLS.

Description
Serves as lead worker to Ophthalmic Medical Tech. Under general direction from the Center Manager, the pre- and post-op technician in the surgery center is a trained technician who assists the Registered Nurse in preparing patients for surgery, and caring for them post-op.
