Description
Director of Data & Analytics leads a high performing team to provide data management & platform engineering support on Tenet’s data warehouse platforms on-prem and on cloud. Tenet is on the path to modernize its data warehouses to Google cloud. Tenet’s data platform and environments include data from the clinical, operational, financial, procurement, and corporate functions. The person will lead teams to curate data asset integration and key technology processes and provide hands-on support of data enablement for solution teams. The position will lead data architecture on broad, key initiatives in bridging OLTP and analytics workloads. The ideal person projects high energy, possesses a passion for state-of-the-art technology, and speaks comfortably from a technical perspective with Tenet’s business users, stakeholders, business partners, and across their team. The ideal candidate has deep technical data management & platform engineering expertise, experience in leading data warehousing platforms, and the ability to manage a team facing unique market challenges in talent attraction, development, and retention.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide talent management over core data engineering expertise
- Assess the full technology stack of services needed in delivering data and analytic solutions, including operations management and automation.
- Lead discovery including friction points, business and technical requirements, and 'as-is' and 'to-be' scenarios.
- Compare alternative solutions from technical and business perspectives to support the defined cost and service requirement.
- Handle 3rd party data integration and security.
- Optimize resourcing for on-going cost management.
Requirements:
- Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college/university in business related or technology related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 10+ years of experience in information technology
- 8+ years of Data Management and Data Engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a healthcare environment, preferable provider.
- Knowledge of healthcare industry and working with various billing, registration and EMRs is preferable.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of Data Management/Metadata Management process and principles is essential.
- Defines and ensures standards for technology and business process are established
- Experience in data discovery, engineering and analytic solutions.
- Experience with programming languages like Python, Spark & SQL and platforms like Databricks.
- Experience with Messaging platforms like Kafka/Confluent, Streaming Platforms • Experience with evolving Data lakehouse architecture and Cloud technologies like BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse etc.
- Proven ability to manage software architecture beyond the tooling landscape to future proof our intellectual property over multiple years
- 7 + years of leading Data architecture review and driving near term and long-term decision making
- 5 +years of experience coordinating resources against ongoing demand
- Proven experience managing data SLA's and SOP's with peer IT groups
- Experience working closely with other architecture leadership and decision making
- Experience managing secure data related to PII, PHI, and HIPAA/CCPA/GDPR etc. regulations
