The Director of Labor Management develops and implements the strategic planning for labor and productivity management for assigned group, sets specific productivity goals to be accomplished, and directs the activities of the assigned Group aimed toward meeting those strategic goals. Identifies productivity opportunities and communicates recommended solutions appropriately with facility and group leaders. Follows company standard processes and utilizes standard tools to ensure consistency across the company. Collaborates with facility executives and department managers to continually improve productivity results. Participates in annual budget process and implements productivity changes as needed. The position is also responsible for complying with corporate policy and procedures, managing resources, promoting teamwork and maximizing internal and external customer satisfaction.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Productivity Management & Analysis
    • Identify productivity opportunities and recommend solutions to facility and group leaders.
    • Provide input on the use of LMRS and other systems that capture and report statistical values for labor cost management.
    • Continuously monitor productivity performance using recognized tools, benchmarks, and software.
    • Serve as a resource for developing and refining productivity standards.
  • Systems & Data Integrity
    • Maintain infrastructure to ensure accurate and current data in productivity tools (LMRS, Position Control, Volume Forecasting, Staffing Grids, etc.).
    • Ensure delivery of consistent, accurate, and timely management reporting to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Training & Support
    • Provide training at the department level on LMRS, Position Control, and productivity report interpretation.
  • Operational Leadership
    • Develop, oversee, and improve daily operations, policies, systems, and procedures to achieve cost reduction and system utilization goals.
    • Direct the standardization of operational policies and procedures across the group, where appropriate.
    • Oversee the position requisition process.
  • Collaboration & Strategic Alignment
    • Partner with facilities and nursing leadership to identify, quantify, and implement cost-saving initiatives and process efficiencies that enhance patient care and resource utilization.
    • Participate in facility and group budget planning.
    • Provide weekly and monthly updates on productivity performance across the group.

The Director Labor Management will facilitate relationships with other system business owners at Tenet to ensure accurate financial and operational data sourcing including but not limited to General Ledger (GL), Showcase, Conifer (PBAR), Position Control, Comparison Database, PDR, and Kronos Time & Attendance with extensive experience/technical depth, system knowledge and judgment to plan to accomplish Executive Leadership Strategy & Goals.

Some travel required - as travel is required, we will run a MVR on the final candidate.

This role is responsible for developing and executing the Group’s strategic plan for labor and productivity management. The position sets measurable productivity goals, directs team activities to achieve those goals, and identifies opportunities for improvement. It ensures alignment with company standards by applying consistent processes and tools across all facilities.

The role works closely with facility executives and department managers to drive ongoing productivity improvements, participates in the annual budget process, and implements labor and productivity changes as required. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures, managing resources effectively, fostering teamwork, and enhancing both internal and external customer satisfaction.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree preferred. Relative work experience may substitute for other degrees.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black belt preferred.

Required Background Experience

  • 5+ years relevant work experience.
  • Experience within healthcare operations required.
  • Experience with labor management systems preferred.
  • List specific background skills required for this role.

Professional Attributes

  • Must have advanced analytical skills.
  • Candidate must be an expert in Excel, with Macro skills and be familiar with programming languages. SPSS and Tableau preferred.
  • Advanced MS Office user, proficient with Pivot Tables, relational databases and data mining skills required.

Personal Attributes

  • Must be proficient in written and verbal skills.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, influencing, and leadership skills a must.
  • Advanced analytical and interpretative skills.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and prioritization skills as well as ability to mentor and develop others in labor management.

Compensation:

  • Pay: $120,016-$160,000 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-25% depending on role level.
  • Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.

Pay Range: $120,016 - $160,000 **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience ***Calculated based on a full-time position
