Director, Physician Recruitment - Tenet Physician Resources (TPR)
Reports to: Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), TPR

The Director provides oversight for the Home Office Recruiting Department. The Director directly manages the day-to-day interaction and production of a five-person Sourcing Specialist team including hiring, training, monitoring and motivating. They work together to ensure the department identifies and implements sourcing strategies to identify qualified physician candidates to meet our facilities’ community needs. The position assigns markets to each of the Sourcers, and works with the Sourcers to ensure candidates are screened appropriately and qualified candidates are referred to the markets. The laws of HR, Compliance and Recruitment are taught by the Director, and via LearnShare.

The Director works with Market TPR and Hospital Leadership to support monthly collaboration calls in In-Market Recruiters, Strategy Officers and TPR CEO’s. The Director also provides reporting on the market’s pipeline of physician candidates.

The Director works closely with the Graduate Medical Education programs across Tenet to define strategies for graduate retention within the Tenet family.

The Director works with the VP of HIM Operations to recruit Physician Advisors. They work together to source, screen and refer candidates to the markets where there is a vacancy.

The Director owns the relationships with all job boards, third party recruitment firms and locums agencies. Works together with Procurement to ensure contractual obligations and renewals are completed on a timely basis.

The Director works as part of a team with TPR’s Director of Credentialing and Sr. Director of Strategy. The Director works with TPR’s Chief Strategy Officer on a daily basis regarding strategic planning of determining the Department’s success. This includes scrutinizing of vendors, firms, sourcing strategies, creating best practices, industry trends, department activity, successes and identifies target areas for improvement. The position ensures the accuracy of the Physician Recruitment Department’s database entries and provides reports and presentations.


  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, management, business, or related field.
  • Must have Physician or Hospital experience and be well versed in the different specialties. Extensive sales, telemarketing, or external recruiting experience required.
  • Self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, problem solving and time management skills are essential.
  • Understanding of recruitment laws and regulations.
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite; working knowledge of program/project management software, Salesforce.
  • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets, mitigating risk to ensure needed timelines are met and managing multiple strategic priorities.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence and high-level influencing skills.
  • Leads with executive presence.
