We are looking for an Emergency Management Intern to support our team in corporate healthcare emergency management and business continuity. This will give you the opportunity to gain valuable experience while you integrate knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and develop your skills in a professional setting.

Program Overview:

  • Onsite in Dallas, TX
  • June 1, 2026 – July 31, 2026

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations within the Emergency Management & Business Continuity office; answering inquiries through written communications; preparing documents and reports; assisting with research assignments and special projects.
  • Support the build out of emergency management systems, such as Everbridge, SharePoint and AccuWeather. 
  • Assist with the development of education and exercise materials relating to emergency management.  
  • Assist with writing and reviewing emergency management plans and documents as required by healthcare regulatory bodies.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of an incident reporting dashboard. 
  • Support the development of company hazard-specific playbooks and programs. 
  • Attend various emergency management meetings, records, compiles, and tracks notes and associated action items.
  • Support with severe weather monitoring and response, as well as Tenet Command Center activations. 
  • Perform other related work as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Prefer candidates at the junior, senior, or graduate student level pursuing a degree in Emergency Management, Occupational Safety, Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, or a similar major with strong plan writing and data analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills.
  • Exhibits exceptional verbal, written and interactive communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to remain calm under high stress situations. 
  • Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
  • Ability to convey a positive and professional image to internal and external customers.
  • Commits to continuous learning; being self‐motivated and self‐ directed.
  • Ability to work independently with sense of urgency to task completion.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment while managing multiple priorities.
