Manager, Clinical Ops, Process Improvement, Periop Services (RN; 75% travel)

Under the direction of the Director, Surgical & Procedural services this position will serve as the enterprise Manager, Clinical Operations, Process Improvement for Perioperative services providing subject matter expertise on clinical and operational development with an emphasis on driving improvements in practice and operations. This position covers all activities within the perioperative area to include all operating rooms in a facility, pre admission testing, pre-op and post-op.

Functional expectations:

  • Performs on site assessments across the enterprise of related functional areas to evaluate nursing practice, staff competencies and skills, overall care practices, patient safety, staffing effectiveness, operational throughput and Tenet strategic target achievement

  • Identifies inefficiencies of practice and process breakdown that impact quality of care, operational effectiveness and results in care variation from standards and target

  • Creates and implements standard work processes, procedures and policies to standardize care operations across the enterprise and improve operational effectiveness to drive balanced scorecard target achievement

  • Process improvements and standardized processes create one care standard that is foundationally evidenced based

  • Provides evaluation and direction of staffing for optimal clinical effectiveness and efficient fiscal management in collaboration with Workforce Management Labor Leads

  • Evaluates, directs, implements quality measures, safety bundles of care, innovative practice standards that are best of care and evidence based within surgical and procedural services

  • Collaborates with facility leadership and staff, identifying and planning for cost reduction opportunities through improvement of practices, staffing, and operations

  • Serves as an educational resource in surgical and procedural services to include evaluating educational needs, platform, content, ongoing skill competency training of leadership and staff

  • Understands regulatory compliance in surgical and procedural areas, collaborates with the regulatory/accreditation team on evaluation of standards and appropriate mitigation of risk

  • Monitors metrics trending on regularly occurring basis and works with facility leadership to identify actions to address stalled or sub-standard performance

  • Assists with the designing of and providing input needed for implementation and optimization of documentation systems (Cerner, Epic, etc) to standardize work flow and achieve key indicators

  • Works 1:1 with Directors in the facility, assessing processes, reviewing facility/unit metrics, collaborating on action plans to target achievement

Up to 75% travel - as travel is required, we will run a MVR on the final candidate.


Education: Required: BSN

Work Experience: Will have at least 5 years management experience within perioperative services. Will have held at minimum a mid-level administrative or higher position (e.g., manager, supervisor, assistant director) for a minimum of 24 months. Preferred Project management experience, analytical skills including ability to manipulate and analyze data, lean training, use of Excel, PowerPoint, and presentation skills.

Certification: Preferred certifications in specialty area, lean six sigma

Professional and Personal Attributes: Ability to function independently and with strategic mindset. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership across the enterprise. Exceptional customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to take initiative and meet objectives and timelines. Must be able to work flexible hours as required and travel within the system as required.
