JOB SUMMARY

This position supports all operations groups requiring legal guidance, serving as counsel in matters relating to contract review and negotiations. Additionally, this position provides guidance relating to contract interpretation and obligations of the company, its clients, vendors and suppliers and performs such other activities as may be directed by the General Counsel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and provide analysis and guidance relating to client and supplier contracts for all Conifer Health Solutions business units.
  • Work closely with the Conifer executive team to identify any key issues in the contracts and offer guidance and potential solutions to address concerns in the contracts.
  • Effectively manage and train the contracts administration team in the review of client and supplier contracts.
  • Develop, review and ensure adherence to Conifer contracting policies and procedures.
  • Drafting, modifying and managing various standardized contract templates.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with guidelines, policies and procedures and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of complex agreements with clients as well as with suppliers.
  • Capable of providing comprehensive legal support with a focus on drafting, reviewing and negotiating client and supplier agreements.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to clearly convey information to executive leadership.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree and law degree from an ABA accredited law school with superior academic credentials.
  • Licensed to practice law.
  • Have at least 8 - 10 years legal experience with knowledge of healthcare laws preferred.
  • Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating client and supplier contracts is required.
