The Senior Director, Health Information Management (HIM), PMI (Performance Management and Innovation) provides overall direction and leadership for Health Information Management services provided to Tenet hospitals and outpatient centers, achieving a balance between new technology, health information demands and cost effectiveness. The Senior Director monitors facility and market performance, ensures consistency in education programs, timely regulatory updates, proper documentation standards, and adherence to compliance initiatives. He/she ensures policy and practice standardization in all areas of Health Information Management across all facilities.
The Senior Director also has responsibility for planning, organizing and directing all functions within the Health Information Management Department (HIM), Medical Records, Transcription, Clinical Documentation Improvement Education and Coding operations. Leads rollout of 3M Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) software platforms; leadership role in ICD-10 readiness. This position serves as the most senior-level leader for the HIM function in Tenet.
- Set vision and implement standardization and consistency in HIM/Coding across Tenet enterprise for current and new members of the Tenet portfolio.
- Lead rollout of CAC/CDI programs.
- Planning, organizing and directing all functions around HIM operations, coding, transcription and clinical documentation.
- Provide HIM leadership and thought leadership in the area of Electronic Health Records and Privacy.
- Monitor quality and financial metric performance across the Tenet enterprise.
- Facilitate the identification, creation, implementation and maintenance of organizational policies and procedures and procedures.
- ICD-10 Readiness.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management and accredited by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
- 15+ years of experience in an acute care hospital setting or other equivalent setting, such as a consulting organization, as long as consulting experience is supplemented with at least five years in an acute hospital setting.
- Previous HIM operational management experience in a large integrated delivery system.
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of health information management practices.
- Demonstrated experience with managing operations and projects for multi-hospital systems.
- Must be able to travel up to 50%. Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be conducted on finalist.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in any health or business-related area.
Compensation:
- Pay: $168,480-$269,152 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
- Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-25% depending on role level.
- Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
