JOB DESCRIPTION:

The responsibilities of the Sr. Director, Information Systems - Ambulatory Surgical Centers include, but are not limited to:

  • Be responsible for the creation and maintenance of all strategic roadmaps of within USPI portfolio, coordinating with the business and IS delivery.
  • Align the roadmaps with critical Strategic Vendors (as defined by spend and critical function), to align the best cohesive technical direction that takes advantage of all capabilities; push vendors for enterprise value, functionality and innovation
  • Identify USPI architecture gap; fill this gap with roadmap and architecture defined
  • Drive USPI and Tenet toward mutually beneficial leverage of enterprise solutions
  • Hold strategic vendors accountable, helping the Vendor and Sourcing teams, measure accountability.
  • Cross functional integrator across portfolios for enterprise architecture
  • Responsible for identification of Total cost of ownership and budgeting of portfolios
  • Responsible for the entire USPI IS budget, aligning with USPI CFO and Tenet CIO, as well as the delivery groups within IS
  • Responsible for overall resource planning, as well as year over year efficiency; comprehend USPI growth strategy
  • Collaborate with the USPI Strategy, Business Development and Chief Medical Officer, to align this roadmap in order to enable budgetary and demand decisions and governance
  • Strengthen Demand Governance with the above listed executives, and institute reporting and dashboards that enable ELT visibility, in conjunction with the Data and Analytics or Service Management teams
  • Serve as a point of escalation and problem resolution in the case of delivery or downtime issues, working with Service Management and Application teams
  • Drive clear prioritization of the field (Patient and Healthcare provider experiences), in conjunction with the Architecture and Engineering Portfolio Owners, technology Architects and USPI business leaders
  • Build and develop internal partnerships across key stakeholder groups to ensure deep connection points for developing and executing on initiatives.
  • Seek alignment and collaboration across the enterprise to bring together ideas to generate outcomes that are transformative

CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10 years leading in a clinical environment with deep technical implementation experience
  • 5 years healthcare management and/or recent revenue cycle experience preferred
  • Experience in technology integration or implementation leadership
  • 5 years customer facing/customer service experience required. Experience with external customers preferred. Business case and use case experience is crucial and required.
  • Hospital, Provider, or Ambulatory Healthcare background experience preferred
  • Financial management experience strongly preferred
  • Must have demonstrated experience working collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders, regardless of reporting structure.
  • Experience with Cerner preferred and with Epic desired. EMR and Revenue Cycle system knowledge is highly desired.
  • Must possess an inquisitive, creative and critical-thinking mindset that can lead through change, drive transformational execution, think clearly on one’s feet, act with agility and a sense of urgency, and allow for thoughtful discussion and collaboration but being decisive and open to other ideas and individual creativity.
  • Must be independent and self-directed but able to work and lead a matrixed team of creative individuals
  • Superior research and analytical skills to track and predict trends, especially in financials and speed of implementations
  • Ability to be hands-on in the creation of healthcare product roadmaps, business plans, executive presentations
  • Must be able to work creatively within a budget and use innovative ways of more effectively managing resources. Doing more with less is sometimes very necessary and a deep understanding of the business and its priorities will allow this individual to pivot appropriately and ensure that every customer feels like the only customer yet recognizes that concessions need to be made based on enterprise decisions of prioritizing spend and capacity
  • Strong business knowledge, understanding of a variety of business practices, and familiarity with the company’s industry.
  • Must be able to collaborate with executives, creative teams, research and development, product development teams and handle ambiguity
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuasively sell ideas. Speaking in business and non-technical terms is a must and allowing for those business conversations to be healthy dialogues as a basis for collaborative decision making.
  • Senior executive and Board level communications skills required – ability to express complex technical ideas and solutions in business terms with passion and conviction.
  • Governance and decision matrices are critical in order to develop stakeholder maps, engagement models, program plans, etc.

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, or appropriately relevant field, is required
  • Masters in Healthcare, Business or Technology preferred

Compensation:

A competitive compensation program will be tailored to the selected candidate. Base salary will be supplemented by a performance bonus and comprehensive, well-rounded benefits program, which includes relocation assistance.
