Assists the Controller in managing the accounting department staff and ensures month end close process is completed timely. Functions as a right hand to the Controller in preparing the annual budget with guidance from the CFO and Region/Market.?Ensures, along side of the Controller, the entire balance sheet is reconciled timely.? Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Continuous progress toward becoming a controller. Assists in the development of policies for the department, and approves policies and/or seeks hospital senior leadership approval as appropriate. Ensures the development of department procedures/protocols and secures hospital approval as necessary. Assists in the development of departmental processes. Creates and seeks approval of organizational structures. Approves personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals. Assists in the development of short to long range goals and measures for the department and oversees the assessment of goal attainment. Develops, seeks approval of, monitors and ensures compliance with budget. Allocates resources to carry out necessities required by the organization. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint Commission requirements and DMC/Tenet policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations.
- Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Master s degree preferred.
- Four years experience in a progressively more responsible Health Care Financial position, including experience with budgeting, cost accounting and financial analysis.
