Directs the personnel, financial, operational activities of the DMC Corporate CSP structure. Provides management and leadership for the 24-hour operation of the main campus Central Sterile Processing Department. In collaboration with Infection Control professionals, ensures compliance with all regulatory and recommending agencies regarding national standards and practices. Oversees and directs protocol for policies and procedures for the system as well as main campus. Responsible for the reprocessing and sterilization of instrumentation, decontamination of patient care equipment, and directs case cart supply chain processes while adhering to high level quality assurance standards. Participates in system goal setting, budget preparation, and the ability to deliver educational components to staff. Responsible for planning and executing the on-going educational offerings required to attain and maintain employee certification. Provides direction for education coordinator in meeting weekly in-service programs presented by both staff and vendor community as necessary. Responsible for approving personnel activities such as hiring, disciplinary measures, terminations and interactions with union representatives. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, the Joint Commission requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
1.Bachelor's degree Healthcare Administration, management, nursing or related field, or combination of equivalent education and/or relevant experience.
2.Five or more years of supervisory/management experience in Central Sterile Processing and/or Distribution Management in Central Sterile/Operating Room with progressive administrative and teaching experience.
3.Management experience in budget preparation, contracts and cost analysis, infection control, quality assurance applications, and knowledge of JCAHO, CDC, EPA, OSHA, AAMI, state regulations.
4.Must be able to demonstrate work process judgment and prioritization in a multi-task environment..
5. Certification as a CSP Manager through CBSPD (Certification Board For Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc, or IAHCSMM International Association of Healthcare, Central Services and Materials Management) required within one year of employment.
