Description:
DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation.
Job Summary
In collaboration with assigned director, manages the day-to-day operations of the Diagnostic Imaging Department which may include; General Radiology, Computer Tomography (CT), Mammography, Angiography, MRI, Ultrasound Nuclear Medicine and PET. Ensures prescribed services are rendered in a manner consistent with established standards, policy, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Supports departmental, hospital and system initiatives. Serves as a representative for Diagnostic Imaging on various hospital committees, meetings, task forces, etc. Participates in staff in-services, continuous quality improvement efforts and all regulatory inspections, as required. Completes department productivity and payroll reports, as assigned.
Oversees staffing schedules and assignments. Delegates, oversees and guides staff in carrying out their respective duties, providing clinical support when required.
Contributes towards the development and revision of organizational structure for function or services. As directed, drafts policy provisions and provides interpretation of function or department policies. Identifies the need for and drafts or defines procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management input, goals and objectives; modifies procedures/protocols as necessary.
Monitors the quality and quantity of work flow to ensure work is completed. Initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals.
Assists in the development of process improvement matrices and completes reports for all managed areas. As requested, assists in long range goal development. Assists in developing and monitoring budgets for all areas of responsibility including other assigned processes.
Supports the standards set forth in the DMCs Code of Conduct by creating an atmosphere of commitment to legal and ethical standards, and as directed, implementing external and internal audit recommendations.
Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JC requirements and DMC policies. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree in clinical healthcare discipline, or Bachelors degree in Science or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Certified/registered in at least one of the following modalities: General Radiology (ARRT), Nuclear Medicine (NMTCB), Ultrasound (ARDMS), American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
3. Three to five years of progressively more responsible experience in the field of Diagnostic Imaging including experience in a leadership role.
4. Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
