JOB SUMMARY

The Senior FP&A Director drives the core activities of Conifer’s consolidated FP&A function which includes defining the cadence for the reporting and analysis that support Conifer’s financial consolidation. This entails leading the quarterly forecast and annual operating plan as well as the month-end reporting cycles. The director will facilitate the preparation of monthly financial reporting and analysis for Conifer Health Solutions for Operational Leaders, Conifer Executive Leadership; Tenet; Conifer Board of Managers and the Tenet Board of Directors. Key role in determining the underlying management reporting processes than underlie all analysis and reporting – including determining allocations methodologies and associated rates for centralized costs. Conducts analysis and develops relevant financial models to identify, track and impact Conifer’s key business drivers. The FP&A director works with both finance and operations leaders to improve processes and optimize reporting. Works directly with operational leade and enables staff to develop and maintain an environment of financial accountability, including a focus on revenue capture, expense control, and corporate compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consolidation & Communication
    • Oversee, manage and prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting and analysis to support internal and external reporting requirements including integrity by client, service line and business unit.
    • Design and build presentation materials for external users, Board of Directors, management, and total company consumption regarding historical and projected business results
  • Financial Planning and Forecasting
    • Lead and execute the annual revenue/expense/capex budget in partnership with Business Unit finance teams and other business partners
    • Drive the quarterly forecasting process, ensuring all Conifer Health teams are in line with the process and timelines
  • Strategic Support and Analysis
    • Develop and utilize data-driven analytics to generate value-added insights and actionable recommendations to drive growth and influence KPIs
    • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide insight to support accurate and timely financial recommendations to both internal and external audiences for decision making purposes.
    • Develop, monitor and maintain allocation methodology and associated rates for corporate related items such as rent, telephone, corporate IT functions
  • Process
    • Key player in the development of FP&A best practices across the team
    • Support the ongoing review and evolution of finance processes and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Leadership
    • Develop high performing team that is able to consistently produce timely, accurate, relevant analysis in support of Senior Conifer and Operations leaders
  • Partner
    • Partner with Accounting, Operations Finance and Business Unit finance team to deliver a comprehensive understanding of our business drivers, including connecting those drivers to our financial management processes

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

If direct report positions are listed below, the following responsibilities will be performed in accordance with guidelines, policies and procedures and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and regulatory accounting and reporting regulations, GAAP, cost management techniques, financial analysis and budgets required
  • Strong understanding of financial planning and analysis processes; can use this understanding to drive the development of tools and processes to focus our FP&A processes of insights, decisions and actions, and not just filling out a spreadsheet
  • Excellent skills in complex analytic problem solving, strategic planning, program development, project management, change management and group process
  • Must have a solid process orientation
  • Must embrace the continuous improvement mindset, seeking out new ways to do things and generate efficiencies or better analytical insights
  • Strong oral, written and formal presentation skills including ability to communicate complex financial issues in a simple way
  • Strong interpersonal skills: work well as part of a cross-functional team and able to interact at all levels
  • Ability to understand the vision of the organization and translate it into specific plans and actions that achieve desired results
  • Strong ability to rapidly assimilate complex data and make decisions
  • Strong drive for results including demonstrated initiative necessary to anticipate, recognize and solve for challenges/problems
  • Sensitive to deadlines and strive to deliver quality information in a timely manner while handling multiple priorities
  • Must demonstrate customer focus (internal and external), attention to detail, command skills, and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Must possess exceptional Microsoft excel skills

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience preferred to perform the job.

  • Minimum of 10 - 15 years financial analysis including 3– 5 years in leadership
  • Management or related experience in a health care system and/or multi-service provider setting a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, finance, or other related field required
  • Master's degree in business administration, economics, finance, or other related field preferred
