GENERAL SUMMARY:Under general supervision of the Supervisor of Diagnostic Radiology, takes radiographs of all age patients, various organs, anatomical areas, and body systems which will assist the physician in diagnoses and treatments. Performs related clerical duties.


1.Obtains and records appropriate patient clinical information and or history; makes a psychological and physical assessment of each patient, making adjustments in the standard radiographic procedures and techniques to accommodate patient size, age, or condition, using Universal Precautions.

2.Assists, transfers, and positions patients as needed, ensuring their modesty and physical safety, utilizing auxiliary equipment and/or devices needed. Protective devices and/or shields are used unless contraindicated.

3.Operates all radiographic equipment (including portable equipment), safely utilizing ALARA principles, assisting physicians when necessary; operates all related equipment used during filming and processing of radiographs. Processes radiographs, checks radiographs to ensure quality and accuracy.
4.Checks operation of equipment; maintains cleanliness of tables and equipment to prevent cross contamination of contagious diseases; keeps rooms well stocked with linen and necessary supplies; when needed, assembles films and film jackets for reading by the Radiologist.

5.Keeps up to date with changes in the field of radiologic technology by inservice study, attending courses or seminars as necessary and/or recommended, and participating in professional organizations.




1.Level of knowledge equivalent to that acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.

2.Registration or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Licensure to operate radiology equipment in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
