JOB SUMMARY

The Insurance Specialist Lead supports the daily functions of the Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) program team members such as; assisting with identifying potential candidates, assistance with enrollment, working closely with family and the agency through the enrollment process; identifying sources for payment, documenting accounting system including progress notes and all required activities to ensure accurate reporting and following the case through the approval process. This individual will work closely with the EES onsite Supervisor and Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Others may be assigned.

  • Responsible for providing lead support to Supervisors and Managers. Assists leadership with the auditing inventory and reviewing for documentation, accuracy and appropriate follow up. Provides feedback to team and management.
  • Provides daily support to team such as; Acts as a mentor and trainer for new hires on policies and procedures of the department, facility protocol and different State guidelines for program eligibility; Works with existing team members on assigned inventory and assists with complicated cases; Provides assistance in managing escalated issues as needed.
  • Provides cross coverage for assigned market facilities when Ins Spec is out. Cross coverage could include screening patients, completing required documents for program, documentation.
  • Responsible for monitoring daily activity of team and completion of reports. Assists leadership with analysis of various monthly reports (i.e.: Mont-end data, cash report, reconciliation of inventory, weekly client reporting etc.)
  • Works closely with management team to continue the development of the program. Participates in special projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Advanced skills with Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs
  • Complex Decision Making Skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to lead a team, coach, mentor, train, develop
  • Working familiarity with the rules and regulations pertaining to Federal, State and County programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the clear understanding of the English language
  • Detail oriented, with strengths in dealing with multiple facilities, Supervisors, and Hospital platforms
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with efficiency
  • Valid Drivers License and auto insurance

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience preferred to perform the job.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in the medical field
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology

  • Must be able to work in sitting position, use computer and answer telephone
  • Ability to travel
  • Includes ability to walk through hospital-based departments across broad campus settings, including Emergency Department environments
