JOB SUMMARY
The core responsibilities of the SUPV, PROFEE, CODING is to provide support in all areas of operations including workflow management, training, and compliance for their designated area of responsibility. The Supervisor is responsible for leading the team, by serving as a positive role model and working with their Senior Department Manager and other department Supervisors to ensure that the department adheres to consistent application of Conifer Healthcare Solutions policy and coding protocols. The Supervisor may also perform in depth review of Professional Fee Outpatient procedure, diagnostic, radiological, and E/M coding for provider services to ensure accurate diagnosis and procedure codes were assigned. The Supervisor may also present findings to Conifer Healthcare Solutions clients, monitors and documents final resolution of recommended changes and provides educations, where necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage staff planning and department workflow as directed by Senior Department Manager.
- Gather and analyze information skillfully to identify and resolve problems and develop alternative solutions in a timely manner.
- Ensure individual team member performance and metrics are met and managed by monitoring performance and providing meaningful feedback on a regular basis.
- Partner with auditing team to identify team members’ strengths and areas of opportunity.
- Mentor and assist in new employee training.
- Coach and mentor team members to improve areas of opportunity, develop skills and encourage growth.
- Foster quality focus in others and improve workflow processes, products and services.
- Build rapport and maintain an excellent working relationship with team members through personal contribution to building a positive team spirit.
- Partner with other Supervisors to leverage resources.
- Respond and adapt to changes in policies, procedures, and/or workflow in a positive manner and become a change agent for your team.
This position may be responsible for the following:
- Conduct on-site and remote coding audit reviews of Outpatient records and validate professional diagnosis and procedure coding assignments in accordance with coding guidelines
- Document recommendations for change in a clear and concise manner
- Interact with client staff and Conifer Healthcare Solutions employees in a positive, professional manner
- Conduct exit conference with coding staff and other interested parties to discuss recommendations for change and other coding issues identified during the review
- Assist Conifer Healthcare Solutions management in developing and presenting in-service coding education to clients
- Utilize official reference material to support recommended coding changes
- Generate CE certificates to exit conference attendees in accordance with AAPC policy
- Provide periodic educational sessions to staff and physician groups.
- Communicate with Conifer Healthcare Solutions operations management regularly
- Prepare and submit accurate and legible documentation associated with weekly review activity
- Submit complete and accurate personal time records and expense reports
- Participate in regional or national operations meetings when scheduled
- Maintain strictest confidentiality
- Perform related work as required by Management
Conifer requires its candidates, as applicable and as permitted by law, to obtain and provide confirmation of all required vaccinations and screenings prior to the start of employment. This may include, but is not limited to, the COVID-19 vaccination, influenza vaccination, and/or any future required vaccines and screenings.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Vocational or technical education beyond high school
- Minimum of 5 years coding experience and 3 years of auditing experience required
- Ability to travel overnight by plane Monday through Friday
- Ability to travel 25% of time required
- Able to manage field equipment, including a laptop and portable printer
- CPC or CCS-P or equivalent certification, additional/specialty certifications a plus
- Demonstrate a good working knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and coding
- Must possess knowledge of third party reimbursement regulations and billing practices
- Possess moderate knowledge of level 1 & 2 modifiers
- Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness
- Ability to understand and follow compliance issues of difficult complexity by utilizing appropriate coding/compliance resources
- Detail oriented with the ability to identify and resolve problems
- Must possess moderate knowledge of CCI edits and LCDs and be able to accurately apply regulation knowledge to coding situations
- Radiology Supervisor must be able to code all level 1 and 2, and IR procedures
- Multi-specialty Supervisor must possess correct coding E&M and at least 4 other specialties
- Able to work TES (Transaction Editing System) edits of moderate complexity
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with co-workers
- Ability to work as a team member in all activities

Compensation and Benefit Information
Compensation
- Pay: $64,168.00 - $96,262.00 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
- Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
