HT or HTL Certification preferred - looking for someone with bench work experience (preferably in Histology)

Single or multi-department management of operations. Manages day to day operations. Directs, supervises, orients/trains and evaluates staff. Enforces policies, procedures and standards of operation. Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability. The Laboratory Clinical Manager performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding of all areas of the clinical laboratory as well as instructing and mentoring other personnel. They also perform with perceptive depth clinical laboratory tests and procedures requiring the expertise of independent judgment and responsibility. They assure the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times and ensure smooth operation of the department. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, maintaining staffing, meets applicable regulatory standards, approves supply orders and department strategic planning.

Manages the collection of specimens, oversees the testing procedures

Maintains Laboratory equipment with maintenance logs to ensure safe operation of equipment

Ensures that quality initiatives are established and maintained within all areas of department. Identifies quality failures as they occur

Develops and delivers laboratory training programs for staff

Evaluates new procedures, equipment and products for use in the lab

Hires, fires, trains, evaluates performance and supervises staff to provide professional, courteous and timely services

Maintains and manages CAP survey testing and maintains documentation for accreditation

Assist the Director of Lab Services in developing and maintaining policies and procedures within he department to maintain compliance

Ensures that reports of test results include pertinent information and critical results are reported timely

Develops standards of care for the lab consistent with local and national standards

Develops workflow process for effective lab management to meet productivity standards

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent minimum experience requirements. Qualified to perform highly complex testing per CLIA 88 personnel guidelines.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three years experience as a Technologist, Supervisory and/or Lead experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Management experience with two years supervisory.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Licensed by NCA, ASCP, HEW/HHS or AMT in all clinical areas. 

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION:      
 

SPECIAL SKILLS: Demonstrates professional development over time. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to effectively implement change and manage departmental budgets. Must be able to independently make decisions in high-stress situations. Reports directly to department director. Computer skills preferred.

SUPERVISES: Laboratory staff.
