Abrazo West Campus (located at 136th Avenue and McDowell Road in Goodyear) is a 188-bed acute care hospital serving the healthcare needs of the residents of the southwest Valley since September 2003. Abrazo West Campus has been recognized for high standards of quality and safe patient care by being named a recipient of the Women s Choice Award as one of America s Best Hospitals in Emergency Care. They are also accredited by The Joint Commission and are a Joint Commission-designated Primary Stroke Center and accredited Chest Pain Center. As a state designated Level 1 Trauma Center, Abrazo West Campus serves the critically injured patients in the Western Region of Arizona. Abrazo West Campus continues to enhance service lines which already include comprehensive orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, hand, cardiovascular with open-heart surgery, obstetrics, women s health, wound care with hyperbaric treatment and therapy as well as 24-hour emergency plus trauma care.

Laboratory Assistant Part Time Rotating Shift West Campus
Performs routine technical and clerical functions. Performs venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; may perform
CLIA waived laboratory tests. Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens, labels tubes and specimen containers, collects
specimens and performs simple tests under supervision. Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned.

May operate simple lab equipment under supervision. Assists pathologists as needed. Prepares solutions, labels tubes and specimen containers,
collects specimens and performs simple tests under supervision. Processes anatomic pathology and cytology specimens. Obtains blood
specimens for all age groups serviced. Uses, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment and uses protective equipment to protect form exposure
to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards. Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures.

clients, laboratory colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Operate basic laboratory equipment, computers and medical software.

Attention to detail to verify relevant data and process specimens ensuring appropriate specimens are handled, packaged and shipped to the
designated laboratory according to established protocols and specimen integrity.
Understands the pre-analytical variables that affect laboratory specimens.
Correct application of laboratory medical terminology and measurements.
Organizational, planning, and prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks and accomplish work accurately and timely.
Demonstrates problem solving by taking the appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high volume setting.


MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Ability to complete blood draws independently within six-weeks of hire.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 6 months of laboratory experience.
