Trauma Center LVN FT Days Trauma Center

Summary

Responsible for maintaining the database for the trauma patient population in order to maintain, retrieve, and analyze Trauma Registry data related to the trauma patient’s history, diagnoses, operations and procedures, complications and outcomes. May be required to abstract additional patient data for quality and regulatory processes such as medical peer review, public reporting measures, and other internal data needs. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Codes injury severity for all traumatic injuries using doctor/nurses notes, pre-hospital information, radiology reports, operative reports, and consultations.
• Inputs data and participates in the ongoing collection of indicator data.
• Consistently compiles, collates and/or assembles documents, reports and related materials to assist in prompt disbursement of information to appropriate internal/external individuals and/or organizations.
• Prepares and submits data summaries to the appropriate state organizations.

Education

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school graduate with minimum of Associated Degree or equivalent work experience of at least two years with strong emphasis on data entry and integrity. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and disease processes. Demonstrates strong analytical skills, communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills. Self-directed to accomplish task and goals require of role.

Preferred: Successful completion of a clinical healthcare-related program such as Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Experience

Required:Work experience of at least two years with strong emphasis on data entry and integrity. Experience with MS Excel, MS Word, and Office is preferred.

Preferred: Previous experience with trauma registry/database systems, familiarity with ICD-9 coding, AIS/ISS scoring, and/or TRISS

Certifications

Required: License/certification required if person hired is Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or Licensed Vocation Nurse. BLS, AIS coding course, Data Management Course, TOPIC within 18 months of hire.

Preferred:CSTR national certification.
