Registers new patients, informs patient of insurance benefits, discusses manner of payment and collects payments from patient after each visit. Assists patients and billing office with billing/charging issues. Copies medical records for insurance companies/attorneys and bills for these services. Appropriately answers telephone for the department, assisting customer or transferring call to appropriate individual to handle customer need. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting needs of the department by adjusting schedule to assure department coverage at all times. Keeps supervisor appropriately informed of problems/issues or needs of department. Completes other related secretarial functions for the department as a whole.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of six months previous related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1. Computer experience preferred.
2. Previous experience of ICD9 coding preferred.
3. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
4. Excel and Word experience preferred.
