Summary of Responsibilities: The Clinical Education Coordinator supports clinical training by assisting with instruction on ophthalmic skills (following JCAHPO standards), mentoring new technicians through shadowing and feedback, and ensuring efficient workflow. This role requires proficiency in refraction (particularly with the Jackson Cross Cylinder), competency in core clinical skills like Goldmann tonometry, and effective utilization of (EMA) systems. The coordinator must adapt their training approach to different learning styles and be willing to travel to various office locations as needed.

Essential Job Functions:
- Clinical Training Support: Assist the clinical trainer in delivering training on ophthalmic skills, ensuring adherence to JCAHPO standards.
- Shadowing and Mentoring: Monitor new technicians through shadowing, provide immediate feedback, and ensure efficient clinical workflow.
- Refraction Expertise: Perform refractions using the Jackson Cross Cylinder (following JCAHPO standards) and help train others in this skill.
- Clinical Competency: Maintain expertise in core clinical skills like Goldmann tonometry and assist in teaching these techniques.
- EMA Proficiency: Utilize and assist staff with (EMA) systems effectively.
- Adaptable Training: Adjust training methods to suit various learning styles and paces.
- Multi-site Flexibility: Be able to work from different office locations to meet training demands.
- Flexibility to work as a floater technician, providing coverage in different clinic locations as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Minimum Background Requirements
· Must possess COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) certification or be willing to obtain it within one year of employment.
· Requires a strong knowledge of JCAHPO clinical standards.
· Needs excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
· Must be proficient in refraction techniques, specifically using the Jackson Cross Cylinder.
· Requires experience with Goldmann applanation tonometry and I-care.
· Must have the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a busy setting with multiple new hires.
· Needs a strong understanding of (EMA) systems.
Minimum Demonstrated Skills
- Proficiency using a computer
- Proficiency using a lensometer
