Contact Lens Assistant- East Cobb
Job Details
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains good relationships and communication with entire optical department, doctors, staff, clinic managers, and vendors
- Greets patients immediately, using proper greeting and demeanor
- Answers the phone by the third ring using a smiling voice and proper telephone etiquette
- Addresses patient’s concerns or gets appropriate information for them
- Supervises the check in process, following up with patients who wait longer than five minutes, apologizing for the delay and assuring they will be helped promptly
- Thanks the patients and invites them to return
- Responds within two business hours to patient messages
- Notifies patients of orders ready or delays
- Schedules patient appointments
- Enters sales into computer
- Follows the established sales processes charging patients appropriately
- Processes accurate insurance claims; follows procedures for Medicare
- Collects all funds at time of sale/ order
- Gives reasonable expectation times for delivery
- Manages charts to ensure they are pulled for patient appointments
- Refiles charts when necessary
- Conducts effective insertion and removal training for patients
- Checks in lenses and properly handles invoices
- May order and stock trial contact lenses
- Maintains petty cash drawer and performs daily closeouts including filling out deposit slips, closing the credit card machine, and filling out the daily reconciliation report.
- May order contact lenses
- Maintains a neat/tidy work space
- Travels to other offices when needed
- Assists with orientation and training of new employees
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Attends required meetings and appropriate training sessions

Qualifications
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Required: 1 year of prior experience or training in this or similar position.

Summary of Responsibilities: Responsible for patients checking in at Optical/Contact Lens departments ensuring the patient is properly greeted and is made to feel welcome. Assists in clerical/operational department duties.
