Lead Technologist for the Blood Bank Department.Manages the daily operations for the department. Works primarily in the Blood Bank with rotating weekend and holiday schedule. Responsible for specimen testing, reviewing previous day s patient work and QC in Blood Bank, and keeping up with maintenance on all Blood Bank-related instrumentation and equipment. Performs client and vendor billing duties, orders reagents, blood products and supplies, and compiles and reports on QI such as blood utilization. Assists in keeping department compliant with all regulatory requirements, including researching and writing SOPs. Researches and validates new instrumentation/tests and trains new employees and students. Validates LIS-related upgrades/changes. Cross-trains in other core lab areas and maintains phlebotomy competency.

- BS/BA degree in a Medical Technology or related science field from an accredited college/university and completion of an approved Medical Technology internship unless approved by Medical Director.
- The incumbent must be a certified Medical Technologists (ASCP, AMT, NCA). BB or SBB preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years extensive Blood Bank Experience required.
May be required to supervise laboratory staff in the absence of Director or Supervisors.
Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated and ventilated hospital complex.
