MT/MLT Microbiology with Generalist Work PRN Weekends 1st Shift

Position is primarily a Microbiology bench position, covering one to two weekends per month on day shift and possibly during the week if available. Some Generalist work is also required. Hours will be approximately 6:00am to 2:30pm, with the first two hours spent covering Generalist areas and the remainder of the shift spent in Microbiology, working up cultures and setting up and resulting PCR testing. Testing in Microbiology must be completed before leaving, so the shift may extend beyond 2:30pm, depending on workload and efficiency of the technologist. Participation on a rotating holiday schedule is required. Generalist areas are Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Serology and Blood Bank, but coverage can be limited to a couple of areas, depending on prior experience and time/availability for training. In addition to running and resulting specimens, instrument maintenance, QC and trouble-shooting are necessary. Ideal candidate is a pleasant, reliable, detail-oriented critical thinker.

Medical Technologist or Medical Technician (ASCP, AMT, NCA) registered, equivalent or eligible.
Six months laboratory experience is preferred.
- BA/BS degree in Medical Technology (or Associates for MLT), or related field from an accredited college/university and completion of a Medical Technology internship is required unless approved by Medical Director.
Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated and ventilated hospital complex.
