POSITION PURPOSE:
Maintains the integrity of the Master Patient Index by revising data and consolidating double medical record numbers as appropriate. Analyzes records for completion by physicians to ensure compliance with Medical Staff Rules & Regulations and JCAHO standards. Assigns physician completion responsibilities. Enters initial data in Chart Control System & updates system following completion of medical records by physician. Performs transcription duties when there is no coverage in that area. Performs release of information duties when appropriate ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and MA. Laws. Ensures receipt of all appropriate outpatient visits. Scans and deletes documents from the ELR as appropriate.



Qualifications:


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School education or equivalent.
Knowledge of medical terminology highly desirable.
Basic Computer skills
Able to read, write and speak English
Knowledge of Meditech

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
None.
Previous work in Medical Records Department required.
