Description:
Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and Level I Trauma Center with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
General Duties:
Under direction of the Program Director, the CMG Coordinator assumes the task to complete each IRF-PAI form completely, accurately and timely. When appropriate, or as requested, will provide direct patient care in licensed area of practice.

2503005632Department Specific Duties:
• Monitors and inputs appropriate information for the IRF-PAI into the appropriate computer program.
• Collects patient information from the patient medical record
• Conducts concurrent chart review for technical compliance and content
• Sets proscribed IRF-PAI completion dates for the multidisciplinary team
• Coordinates the completion of assigned sections of the IRF-PAI by the team
• Reviews the quality measure scoring for accuracy, asks questions and acts to correct any discrepancies
• Analyzes medical record coding to make certain that it is accurate and appropriately questions any coding discrepancies
• Reviews each IRF-PAI in total for accuracy before inputting and finalizing and interacts with the Program Director when unable to resolve any data or timeliness issues related to the IRF-PAI
• Transmits data to the IRF database in a timely manner and consistent with the CMS regulations
• Coordinates IRF-PAI processes with various hospital departments to ensure timely billing and that there is appropriate retention of the IRF-PAI
• Assures that final IRF CMG’s are accurate and transferred to the billing office in a timely manner, prints the IRF-PAI in a timely manner and sends it to HIM for filing with the closed record
• Assists with inputting other program related data into the appropriate computer program
• Demonstrates the ability and applies the skill to maintain confidentiality with respect to patients, employees, and all other matters consistent with the HIPAA guidelines
• Attends any hospital committee meetings as assigned by the Program Director
• Acts as a resource person to the inpatient rehabilitation program and the hospital
• Participates in quality improvement activities as requested by the Program Director
• Completes all mandatory hospital and rehabilitation department competencies as directed and within the assigned timeframes
• Attends at least 80% of all required rehabilitation program meetings and in-services
• Pursues continuing education to expand clinical competency to maintain licensure
• Demonstrates and promotes positive relations with all staff and coworkers in a friendly manner.
• Knowledgeable about guidelines regarding Medicare, Medicaid, Group Health, PIP, and Workers Compensation and other payor sources
• Tours families and referral sources through the unit as appropriate.
• Knowledge of current CMS and JCAHO requirements for enrollment in Rehab programs.
• Completes all required MediLinks documentation at admission and discharge according to established timeframes and guidelines.
• Completes all eRehabData uploads and requirements according to established timeframes and guidelines.
• Completes transmission of Medicare billing according to established timeframes and guidelines and communicates pertinent CMG information to the appropriate contacts in the finance dept.
• Maintains transaction log of dates of admission, documentation completion, upload data and transmission dates as required by Tenet and CMS
• Ensures IRF-PAI are submitted to Medical Records post discharge.
• Maintains an effective rapport with all customers i.e. patients, physicians, case managers, etc.
• Adheres to identified work schedule; notifies supervisor of needed changes in schedule
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary team
Required:
• Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program or other clinical licensed/certified
• Current licensure/certification as required by profession
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times).
• Educational background is preferred
• Experience with RPPS and the IRF-PAI processes are preferred
• Excellent communication skills, detail oriented, able to meet strict timeframe, computer skills, able to work in a team, critical thinking abilities, able to work independently, and good organizational skills.
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times).
• Able to independently manage multiple priorities
• Must have excellent computer skills; i.e. eRehabData software
• Must demonstrate teamwork in a pleasant manner
• Must be able to write legibly
Physical Requirements:
• Required to lift and carry equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Ability to talk and hear effectively to convey instructions and information to patients/families, staff and coworkers
