Behavioral Health Faculty at Abrazo Central Family Medicine Residency

Abrazo Central Campus (located at 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Phoenix), a 221-bed acute care facility and teaching hospital, has been providing quality care to patients in the Phoenix community for more than 50 years. Abrazo Central Campus has received many notable awards and accolades from national organizations including Gold Plus and Target Stroke; Honor Roll Awards from the American Heart and American Stroke Association; Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospital by Truven Health Analytics; Chest Pain Accreditation with PCI from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care; and the Donor Network Award for “Outstanding Operating Room,” among others. Abrazo Central Campus is recognized for comprehensive cardiovascular care, neuroscience services including NICO BrainPath technology, orthopedics, women’s health, radiology, and 24-hour emergency care, with more than 800 affiliated physicians on staff offering a wide range of medical specialties.

Develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates all aspects of the curriculum in Human Behavior and Mental Health, consistent with ACGME program requirements for residency training in Family Medicine. Demonstrates a strong interest in the education of residents and rotating medical students using sound clinical and teaching abilities. This faculty member serves as teacher and mentor for the well-being of Family Medicine faculty, staff, residents and rotating medical students. Must demonstrate a commitment to his/her own continuing medical education and ongoing scholarly work.

Education (30%), Clinical (30%), Administrative/Leadership (30%), Scholarly Activity (4%), Community Service (3%), Faculty Development (3%).

Masters degree in related field that complements Family Medicine competencies
Doctoral degree in psychology or related field
3 years post-degree experience in clinical psychology, social work or graduate medical education
3 years full-time experience on a residency faculty
