Clinical Documentation Specialist  Full Time Day Shift Abrazo Regional Office
Under general supervision of the Regional Coding Manager/Manager of Inpatient Coding, the Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for improving overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation to accurately reflect patient severity of illness and risk of mortality through extensive interaction with physician, case management, nursing staff, other patient caregivers and coding staff.
Special Skills:Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents. Detail knowledge and understanding and MSDRGs and OIG workplan as it relates to correct coding and MSDRG assignment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with physician, case management, nursing, coding staff and hospital staff. Computer skills and familiarity with basic office equipment required. Ability to work independently in a time oriented environment. Self-directed, motivated and have a positive attitude.


Minimum Education: Graduate of an approved Health Information Technology/Management program with credentials of RHIA, RHIA eligible, RHIT, RHIT eligible, CCS, CCS-P and/or graduate from an accredited nursing program with RN licensure.
Minimum Experience: Two years of experience in acute care setting. One year of inpatient coder experience preferred.
Required Certifications/Licensure: RHIT, RHIA, or CCS, if RN graduate from an accredited nursing program with RN licensure.
