Description

Transports patients to and from the OR and various departments within the hospital. Must be familiar with all departments within the facility as well as all regulations of the hospital. Must be able to help position patients, assemble and troubleshoot room equipment, assists in the OR rooms, PACU and OPS with lifting and moving patients. Maintains knowledge of surgical asepsis and procedures and assists with surgical preps. Responsible for the cleaning of stretchers and OR rooms in between surgical cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates advanced skills needed to perform job and help with procedures.  Sets up equipment according to policy/procedure.  Proficiently demonstrates skills in maintaining surgical asepsis in the OR room and helping with procedures.      Demonstrates skill and knowledge when helping with patient positioning.   
  • Patient needs are met in a timely manner.  Needs in the department are met in timely manner and any problems are communicated to the appropriate person. 
  • All assigned duties are completed in accordance with policy/procedure.  Demonstrates solid clinical knowledge base.  Recognizes and responds appropriately in emergency situations in the OR suite. 
  • Effective and efficient use of equipment, supplies and people.      Identifies inefficiencies and inaccuracies, responding appropriately.  Actively participates in department/facility PI activities.  Works to assure the department meets regulatory standards. 
  • Displays calm and supportive behavior.  Patient care activities are equally shared and communicated, coordinated and delegated as needed in a professional manner. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Education:  High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:      American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Up to 1 year of experience as a transporter or nurse tech is preferred.
