Description:

Under general direction, plans, organizes, directs and manages the operation of TPR Imaging Services Department; recommends, develops, implements and evaluates goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to diagnostic imaging; provides staff support to higher level management within TPR.

Responsibilities:
  • Organize, supervise and monitor the provision of the specialized clinical services, practices and procedures of the Diagnostic Imaging Department; ensure all applicable guidelines for accreditation, quality assurance and safe patient care are met. Participate in the development of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities within the Diagnostic Imaging Department Act as liaison to Physicians group. 
  • Prepare cost estimates and justifications for budget recommendations; monitor and control expenditures to ensure the accomplishment of objectives within the approved budget. 
  • Negotiate contracts with outside vendors, consultants or organizations for services within the Diagnostic Imaging Department; administer and monitor contracts. 
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with a variety of organizations, including medical, nursing and clinical staff in throughout Tenet, County departments, other agencies and private health care providers. 
  • Answer questions and provide information to the public; enforce applicable clinical standards, codes and regulations as required. 
  • Provide staff assistance to higher level management on clinical issues within the area of specialization. Select, supervise, train and evaluate clinical, professional, technical and clerical subordinates. 
  • Organize available staff in such a way as to maximize quality patient care. 
  • Develop work schedules, on call assignments, and other methods of assuring adequate staff coverage; manage the scheduling of patients. 
  • Interpret and apply departmental administrative and personnel policies. 
  • Local travel required.

  • Performs duties while demonstrating strong, interpersonal and communication skills that allows work to flow in a positive, constructive, and professional manner. Works with all team members to facilitate congenial and professional working relationships with subordinates, peers, and superiors thus creating a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, senior leadership, managers, the public, physicians and other personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

Qualifications

  • BS of Radiologic Technology Program. 
  • 5 to 7 years related experience; healthcare industry experience required. 
  • Principles, practices, trends and technological developments in the area of diagnostic imaging 
  • Knowledge of Clinical practices, procedures and techniques in the area of diagnostic imaging 
    Knowledge of Laws, regulations, accreditation standards and safety guidelines, related to diagnostic imaging services 
  • Knowledge of principles of budget preparation and monitoring 
  • Knowledge of principles of personnel training, supervision and evaluation 
  • Knowledge of principles of imaging methods and image/film management 
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with diagnostic imaging 
  • Experience with modern imaging equipment, including CT, MRI, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Mammogram, Nuclear Medicine 
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and physics as applied to diagnostic imaging of the human body 
  • Experience with the care and operation of diagnostic imaging equipment 
  • Current computer software such as Microsoft Office, including email and calendar usage
