Responsibilities:

Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing. Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens. Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned. Will perform waived testing, and assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or medical assistant training program

Experience:

Required: 2 years performing phlebotomy procedures in a hospital setting; basic proficiency in using lab computer/lab information system

Certifications:

Required: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar.
