Under the direction of the Director of Medical Staff Services, the Medical Staff Manageris responsible for the overall process for physician/practitioner appointment and reappointment to the medical staff. This position verifies monitors and evaluates all credentialing and re-credentialing documentation for applicants, medical staff members and allied health professionals and ensures applications are in accordance with Medical Staff By-laws, and regulatory bodies. Provides guidance and serves as a resource to medical staff members in execution of self-governance and practical application of its Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and applicable regulatory mandates. Manager will assist with preparation for regulatory surveys including educating the medical staff on the latest accreditation standards.
Associate of Science degree in Business Administration or a related field, preferred;
Bachelor s Degree in Health Care field or equivalent highly desired.
Required: Five (5) years experience in a Medical Staff Department, with three (3) years in a leadership position;
Knowledge of medical staff credentialing of current California and Federal regulations and accreditation standards;
Thorough knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures relating to medical staff;
Ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory, or visual fashion is essential. The methods used to express or exchange ideas are by written or spoken word. Written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are required;
Excellent, data management and customer service skills required;
Proficient with standard computer and software programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Internet, as well as medical staff data management programs, specifically ECHO (Verity).
Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) from the National Association for Medical Staff Services, required
