Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Plant Operations, this position performs standard duties, which includes but is not limited to servicing of equipment, electrical distribution, emergency generators/power distribution, ATSs, elevators, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (chillers/cooling towers), boilers and steam supply/ condensate systems, plumbing, domestic water pumps, medical and compressed air systems, ice and refrigeration machines, and painting. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and completes work orders as assigned by Senior Stationary Engineer.
Position Accountabilities:The following are essential job accountabilities:
- Ensures maintenance of physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems, and grounds are in operative and safe working conditions at all times.
- Reads meters, gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions and documents readings. Notifies senior stationary engineer or Director of Plant Ops when out of acceptable range.
- Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or shut down equipment.
- Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, lubrication or replacement.
- Perform work under a work order or computerized maintenance management system.
- Able to work varied shifts, alternating weekends and holidays.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Able to work independently, problem solve and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong central plant skills to include the daily operation of computerized building automation systems.
- Able to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
- Ensures the health system is in compliance with all local, state and federal codes and regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High school graduate with Technical training related to job requirements.
Minimum Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in a hospital setting as a Stationary Engineer or higher skill level, preferred;
- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities of a Stationary Engineer;
- Apprentice or journey-level proficiency in HVAC, plumbing and electrical strongly preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
Must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment:
- Current California Driver License and able to meet hospital insurance policy carrier requirements;
Pay Range: $40.89 - $63.37 hourly
