Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Anesthesia Technician to be responsible for assisting the anesthesiologists and/or the CRNA’s by properly preparing the supplies and equipment, assisting anesthesia personnel in the insertion of invasive lines, ordering/stocking anesthesia supplies & equipment both in the surgical and in the OB areas and the preparation and assistance as needed with perfusion supplies and equipment

What your day will look like:

  • Sets up &/or have available all appropriate supplies and equipment for anesthesia for each surgery:
  • Make certain that the all monitors on the anesthesia machine are functioning and that they have all the appropriate working cables & pads.
  • Have available the appropriate BP & pulse oximetry equipment.
  • Set up arterial lines (including Swan Gantz lines) & assist with the insertion.
  • Order all anesthesia supplies & equipment as needed, both in the OR & in OB.
  • Stock all anesthesia supplies, both in the OR & in OB.
  • Maintain the epidural cart.
  • Maintain the emergency intubation kit.
  • Assist the perfusionists with their setup and assembly of supplies & equipment.
  • Clean the Operating Rooms between surgeries and cleans anesthesia machines on a regular basis.
  • Transport patients, both to the OR and returning from the OR &/or PACU.
  • Employs the principles of service as outlined/defined in the Standards of Service for TRMC
  • Replace the trash, linens, and suction canisters & tubing between cases.
  • Take call for the Operating Room as assigned.
  • Assist with inventory counts.
  • Follow Standard Precautions on all patients.
  • Function as cooperative member of the healthcare team.
  • Is familiar with and abides by the safety standards and policies of the hospital

Success Factors:

  • Documentation of on-job training in anesthesia/OR assistant responsibilities & technology
  • High School graduate or completion of G. E. D.
  • BLS certification
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages desirable.
