Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Senior Radiologic Techno who will under the guidance of the Director, supervise activities of technologists/students working and/or rotating through the department including their discipline and performance while in that area. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
What your day will look like:
- Provides leadership and supervision of the technical staff to provide for the production of high quality radiographic work.
- Provides leadership and supervision of non-technical personnel in assigned section to provide for orderly workflow and quality performance of duties.
- Coordinates work flow in department and other areas of hospital
- Assists with employee evaluations and reports problems relating to staffing, morale, work, methods, procedures and employee certification to the Director.
- Assures availability and functioning of supplies and equipment
- Makes recommendations on hiring, firing and disciplining staff
- Provides professional and technical guidance and confers with medical staff as appropriate
- Oversees Imaging students and evaluates assigned students
- Assist Director in the interviewing process and makes recommendations.
- Is responsible for all safety regulations in assigned areas of supervision. Interprets departmental and hospital rules and regulations where applicable. Reports problems to service companies and to Director
- Monitors condition, care maintenance of diagnostic radiologic equipment. Provides for documentation of problems, response time of service organization and completion of repair. Deals directly with service organizations to ensure adequate equipment care according to established parameters.
- Assigns personnel to activities within the scope of the department. Supervises and assists in providing orderly work flow which includes patient transportation, assignment to radiologic rooms and follow through to completion of procedures and dismissal of patients from department.
- Prepares and maintains duty rosters, including personnel assignments, days, off, vacation schedules, call assignments, etc.
- Responsible for the procurement, storage and routing of supplies and for room preparation. May activate at times the procurement and necessity for maintenance of equipment. Initiates orders for and receives various items of minor equipment and supplies that are necessary for the effective operation of the department.
- Participate in the administration and development of policies and procedures of the hospital and department to provide for fair and impartial application to all employees.
- Participates as necessary in a variety of tasks relative to the management of the Radiology Department such as preparation of reports, payroll, surveys, PI and special projects.
- Performs other general duties in the absence of the Director of Radiology Services and/or as assigned.
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
- Responsible for safe handling of equipment and films.
- Assists in maintaining basic records and reports.
- Assists in maintaining files.
- Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel
- Interacts professionally with patient/family.
- Is acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
- Has knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of the other departments.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
Success Factors:
- High School graduate; Preferred: Associates degree"
- Required: Graduate of accredited Imaging Program, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound or MRI
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Certified by the State of Texas to practice and administer radiation.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Required: 3 years clinical experience
- Preferred: 2 years supervisory experience
- One year of experience under a Board Certified Radiologist.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
