Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a RCIS Cath Lab Tech to provide patient care. Communicates continuously with physician about patient condition. Assists physician during invasive and noninvasive procedures. Operates all equipment safely and correctly. Maintains PAR levels. Ensures the needs of the Cardiac Cath Laboratory team are met. Clients served are predominately adults eighteen (18) year of age and older.

What your day will look like:

  • Delivers quality service and positive interaction with our customers while performing the tasks within this job description. Assumes care for physical needs of the patient during examinations and procedures.
  • Operates imaging equipment, scrubs and assists physicians in the detection and localization of patient anatomy during diagnostic and interventional procedures within the Cardiac Cath lab.
  • Provides protection to patients, family members and self in accordance with radiation safety standards. Observes patient and equipment during procedures, documents patient reactions or problems on requisitions and reports immediately to supervisor.
  • Records key events occurring during the procedures and enters procedures and supplies via the physiologic computer system. Monitor and records ECG and pressure waveforms during the procedure.
  • Assists physician in detection and localization of patient anatomy utilizing proper positioning and establishment of appropriate technical factors and sterile technique.
  • Rotates and participates "on Call" when scheduled. Assists in additional coverage when applicable.
  • Assists with the care and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Cleans assigned area and maintains stock supply through inventory control.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during high risk procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as a team member, assist physicians and assist with interpretation of data collected.

Success Factors:

  • Licensed as a Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists(ARRT), or Certified/Registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International, or Certified/Registered as a Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) through an accredited school or program, or 15 years of documented equivalent experience in an Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
  • Documentation of 2-3 years of Cardiac Cath Laboratory work experience-preferred.
  • Current BCLS certification required.
  • Current ACLS certification required.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Proficient in interpreting EKGs and hemodynamic pressure tracings.
  • Operates different equipment: x-ray table, camera, video recorder, ultrasound machines, pressure injectors.
