Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Admin Support Assistant to assist in determination of department staffing needs. Schedules personnel for all shifts, as needed. Adjusts staffing needs based on daily patient care needs. Receives and reports absences to appropriate Nursing Department Director. Keeps current register of nursing staff information, i.e., phone numbers, etc. Acts as a liaison between departments and staff.
What your day will look like:
- Utilizing pre-established guidelines and working with the nursing department directors, assists in staffing the nursing units on a shift by shift basis.
- Calculates on the weekly schedule patient/nurse ratio and reports any over-staffing to the Nurse Managers.
- Double checks the six-week schedules against the working seven-day schedule for each nursing unit.
- Receives calls from staff regarding absences, noting reasons. Reports same to Nursing Department Director and replaces staff as necessary. Reports illnesses to Infection Control Practitioner
- Keeps at least one month of weekly schedules updated at all times.
- Works with Unit Directors to keep abreast of Agency Staffing needs.
- Updates needs on staffing software website as appropriate.
- Requests Agency nurses through the WFX system.
- Prepares Agency invoices under the direction of the House Supervisor.
- Prepares reports as requested to monitor staffing utilization.
- Works in conjunction with Unit Directors and coordinates start dates and orientation of new Agency Nurses.
- Maintains all Agency RN files and ensures completeness.
- Performs Legiant functions for assigned departments.
Success Factors:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Intermediate computer knowledge.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
