Citizens Baptist Medical Center: Located in Talladega, this facility is equipped with 122 beds. Services offered include chest pain and stroke care; surgical services, including minimally invasive surgery; orthopedics, including rehabilitation; and psychiatric care.

Summary

This is a blended job of Certified Nurse Assistant and Unit Secretary (Health Unit Coordinator) providing both patient care assistance and unit clerical support. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Performs general clerical duties on a nursing unit by preparing, compiling, and maintaining records in a hospital nursing unit.

Job Responsibilities and Skills

Acts as preceptor for new employees.
Assists with related clerical duties such as order entry, answering phones and other administrative functions.
Assumes responsibility for cleanliness of room and stocking supplies needed for ED patients or procedures. Washes and cleans instruments for
re-sterilizing. Cleans all rescue equipment and secures it in storage.
Assumes responsibility for fracture immobilization and splint application. Performs wound care and dressing changes when needed.
Conducts POC testing and maintains annual competencies. Performs venipuncture, blood cultures or other lab sample collections.
Performs EKGs, cardiac monitor application and identifies lethal dysrhythmias. Recognizes abnormal vital signs and reports all irregular findings
to a registered nurse or physician.
Prepares patient for evaluations and procedures. Arranges sterile trays for ED procedures and assists physicians by passing instruments or with
sutures.
Transports patients to/from other departments using stretchers, wheel chairs or other methods

Education

Required:Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician Program

Experience

Preferred: Emergency Medical Technician experience

Certifications

Required:Current EMT-Basic (EMT-B) or EMT-Intermediate (EMT-I) certification. BLS.
