Nurse Manager Operating Room FT Days Position Summary
Accountable for all aspects of development, management, and financial success of specific environment. (OR’s, PACU, Ambulatory Surgery, Pre Admit Testing, GI) Works with Director Perioperative Services to develop and articulate the department mission and vision; develop business plans within his/her area of responsibility; assist in setting and accomplishing financial and budget targets and quality measures. Partners with the Director, Perioperative Services to develop, manage and maintain contractual relationships with physicians and provider partners within area of responsibility. Works to ensure outstanding customer/patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Oversees and plans implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and services for area of responsibility. Ensures that nurses are current in competency, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. Manages the service line leads and nurse educators for area of responsibility. Monitors nursing staff performance and provides guidance, training, and/or counseling.
Qualifications:
THE NURSE MANAGER OPERATING ROOM FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor’s in Nursing, Healthcare, Business, Public Administration, Management or related field.
Required: National Incident Management System (NIMS) class to be completed within 6 month of position date.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
Required: Current license as an RN in the state of Arizona
EXPERIENCE
Required: 5 years progressively responsible healthcare experience, 1 year minimum of progressively responsible management or business experience. Includes management of department, revenue accountability, contract management and staff management.
Preferred: 5 years in the above
Skills
Required: Team building, systems thinking, complex problem solving, negotiating and influencing, change and conflict management, facilitation of quality improvement process, evaluation of quality information, coaching and mentoring, strategic planning, business strategy development, management of large and complex projects
Preferred: Strength and understanding of information systems.
Knowledge
Required: Quality improvement principles, healthcare trends, business and management techniques and principles, strategic planning, business strategy development, large project management. Regulatory requirements in healthcare field. Strong knowledge base in Perioperative Services.
Technology
Required: Knowledge of current uses of technology in business and healthcare field. Ability to use personal productivity tools (i.e.; Microsoft Office)
Preferred: Working knowledge of JCAHO & AORN recommendations
