Manager, Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Interoperability (Remote in the US)

The Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Interoperability Manager will oversee the seamless integration and management of healthcare data exchange solutions within Tenet Health. This role requires deep expertise in HIE configurations, Healthcare Interoperability, direct messaging systems, OID administration, and patient portal management. The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, ensure compliance with healthcare data standards, and drive strategic initiatives for data interoperability and system optimization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
HIE Management & Configuration
- Configure, maintain, and optimize the HIE portal to support secure and accurate health data exchange.
- Manage user access, permissions, and perform regular audits to maintain Master Patient Index (MPI) accuracy.
- Coordinate and implement system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security compliance.
OID & Certificates Management
- Oversee Tenet Health OID administration, ensuring proper integration for accurate data reporting and interoperability.
- Administer and renew digital certificates to ensure secure URL connections and maintain system trust.
Direct Messaging & External Address Book (EAB) Administration
- Manage secure communication channels via DirectTrust, ensuring compliance with healthcare privacy regulations.
- Maintain the External Address Book (EAB), regularly auditing entries for accuracy and reliability.
Patient Portal Integration
- Lead the administration and optimization of the Cerner Patient Portal, focusing on enhancing user experience and issue resolution.
- Serve as the primary lead for Apple Health integration, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure interoperability.
Project Management & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead IT deployment for new hospital projects, including HIE integration, patient portal implementation, and external communication capabilities.
- Drive initiatives such as the Seamless Exchange project and Direct Connect integration with the Social Security Administration (SSA).
- Manage AthenaOne integration in the ambulatory space, ensuring smooth data flow and compatibility with existing systems.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with key vendors, including Oracle/Cerner, DirectTrust, SSI Group, and Apple Health.
- Negotiate contracts, oversee SLAs, and ensure continuous improvement in vendor performance.
Compliance, Security, and Governance
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR).
- Conduct audits and risk assessments to safeguard patient data and uphold industry best practices in healthcare IT security.
Training & Support
- Develop and deliver technical training programs for end-users and hospital staff.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support to resolve complex IT issues with minimal operational disruption.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors in Health Information Management or equivalent
Compensation
- Pay: $114,192 - $182,416 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
- Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-25% depending on role level.
- Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
