Sonographer, Maternal Fetal Medicine

JOB SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, performs basic diagnostic ultrasound procedures, as requested by a licensed physician. Exercises professional judgment in providing health care services, to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly. May be multi-credentialed in sonography. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Others may be assigned. No Description

1. Evaluates ultrasound services and maintains the highest possible standards of quality set forth by the Imaging department and departmental policies and procedures

2. Performs a variety of ultrasound procedures

3. Produces clear and undistorted images as indicates per established protocols

4. Identifies and visualizes all necessary anatomy, measurements, and correctly labels structures

5. Documents patient information, test results, and measurements accurately

6. Recognizes normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology and reports critical values and abnormal findings per establishes policy and procedures

7. Utilizes 2 dimensional, M-Mode, color flow and Doppler imaging techniques when indicated

8. Abnormal patient findings are immediately reported to physician 9. Assures correct patient information on requests and reports

10. Monitors equipment and department supplies

11. Organizes work area and maintains supplies

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job.

 High School Diploma or equivalent required

 Graduate of an accredited program for Ultrasonography

 Active member of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

 Minimum (3) years of experience as an ultrasonographer

 Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider required

 Strong proficiency in computer based programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

 Ability to work well with other team members and consultants in remote offices as well as independently.

 Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a complex, matrix environment
