Position Summary

The Lead OR Orthopedic Technician, works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, to ensure the safe transport of the surgical patients to the operating room. Responsible for the coordination of surgical products related to the Ortho specialty, by acting as a courier between the related units of the hospital. Performs pre-operative clip of surgical patients. Assists in positioning and holding patients for surgical prep when requested in addition to providing traction set-up and other orthopedic needs in the OR, as well as the nursing units. Other duties include cleaning of OR rooms between cases, and various other areas of the department, stocking rooms and ordering supplies.

Position Requirements/Qualifications: (including required licensure/certifications, education and job knowledge / experience)

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Required: Two (2) year Orthopedic experience.

Experience: Working knowledge of operating room environment, frequent and indirect patient contact preferred.

Other qualifications: Ability to move objects, use of good body mechanics, ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. (BLS) American Heart Association Basic Life Support
