Job Summary
Up to $10,000 Bonus Based on Eligibility
The overall employee health program in the facility is directed by Human Resources, with significant input from Nursing, Infection Control, and Infectious Disease. The EHN promotes, coordinates, and administers all aspects of occupational health services for health care professionals (HCP) in his/her Tenet facility, which includes employees and non-employees working in the facility. Non-employees included in this program may be contractors, vendors, students, volunteers and credentialed staff
Responsibilities

- Occupational Injury Management Functions:
- Performs first aid if necessary
- Performs first responder and follow-up actions as needed
- Facilitates completion of EIR/investigation & action plan of all employee incidents/accidents
- Maintains confidentiality and fairness at all times. Completes thorough and objective investigations to ensure proper handling of all incidents/claims. Reviews findings with appropriate facility leaders.
- Establishes contact with injured employee (or other HCP) at the time/within 24 hrs of work injury
- Refers injured workers to appropriate medical provider if needed
- Establishes contact with initial network medical provider of the injured employee, if needed
- Establishes contact with the worker’s compensation carrier for the facility in the event of a work injury
- Files worker’s compensation claim forms as appropriate
- Manages quality cost-effective medical care for injured employees
- Facilitates injured worker to pre-injury health and work status
- Facilitates post-injury communication with injured employee and all other stakeholders in case management of claim toward resolution
- Maintains contact with injured employees on at least a bi-weekly basis during lost work time
- Coordinates and monitors work related return to work program such as transitional or modified duty
- Facilitates communication between injured employees and Insurer regarding payments of wages and all expenses related to work injuries
- Maintains OSHA recordkeeping for 301, 300, and 300A
- Posts 300A in all locations from Feb-April each year
- Maintains needlestick log
- Obtains copies of vendor OSHA 300A and ensure their posting where required
- Track and trends occupational injuries/diseases/near misses and reports to appropriate facility leaders
- Manages data bases and filing systems in all employee health areas
- Reviews open claims report monthly for SOX audit in partnership with Internal Audit
- Occupational Health Functions:
- Ensures complete occupational health medical record on all HCPs
- Schedules and administers post job offer physical assessment for all HCPs (employees, students, volunteers, contract staff, credentialed staff). Reviews health records, administers needed immunizations, collects urine for drug screens/prints and monitors results, conducts physical assessments. Communicates work status to HR and facility leaders
- Administers initial, annual/biannual TB monitoring/assessment process for all HCPs and maintains data base
- Administers Hepatitis B Vaccine as indicated and maintains data base
- Administers Td/Tdap vaccine as indicated and maintains data base
- Administers MMR vaccines as indicated and maintains data base
- Administers varicella vaccines as indicated and maintains data base
- Administers flu vaccine annually as indicated and maintains data base
- Draws and monitors hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella titers as indicated and maintains data base
- Reports results of all testing to HCPs and coordinates follow-up required
- Conducts OSHA medical surveillance as necessary
- Reviews initial, annual, and exposure medical histories and completes follow-up as needed
- Orders supplies/meds as needed
- Register HCPs who get blood draws/x-rays in Patient Access. Print labels to attach to specimens/requisitions.
- Get specimens to lab
- Collaborates with IC/ID in communicable disease exposures and follow-up
- EAP responsibility as directed by CHRO
- HCP drug testing
- Coordinates & monitors Blood/Body Fluid Exposures Program
- Conducts Fitness for Duty/Return to work screenings
- Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements
- Experience: Two years of nursing experience
- Education: Associate Degree Nursing or Diploma
- Certifications: Valid current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona Licensed in 30 days. Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and others as required by individual department.
- Preferred Requirements
- Experience: Two years in Employee/Occupational Health in health care and/or Emergency Nursing
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or speciality occupation
- Certifications: COHN-S/COHN
