Summary

Nurse Manager is Responsible to provide direction/supervision of staff and planning for safe and effective nursing care of the patient undergoing surgical services. Nurse Manager supervise nursing duties according to AORN / ASPAN / SGNA standards and established policies and procedures of the department of Surgery, OPSF, Sterile Processing & Anesthesia. Assist in the maintenance of a safe environment. Nurse Manager assists and provides input to Director regarding employment interviews, staff performance issues/needs, and employee schedules. Nurse Manager assists with the ongoing Performance Improvement Program. Specialized nursing care utilizes evidence-based practice in accordance with professional standards. Nurse Manager adhere to the Florida State Nurse Practice Act and reviews orders/test results and documents care delivered accurately and timely in the electronic health record.

Position Requirements/Qualifications: (including required licensure/certifications, education and job knowledge / experience)

Minimum Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred: B.S.N.

Experience: Minimum five (5) years Managerial experience preferred.

Required Certification / Licensure / Registration:

  • Current Florida RN license
  • American Heart Association BLS/ ACLS / PALS
  • Understanding of AORN standards of practice
  • Understanding of ASPAN standards of practice
  • Demonstrates yearly competencies specific to unit
