Job Summary

Responsibilities

This individual's responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

• Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner. 
• Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner. 
• Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately. 
• Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records. Respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins. 
• Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing. 
• Stock medications into pharmacy inventory, including sterile compounding areas. 
• Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications. 
• Deliver medications to patient care areas. 
• Attend to medication requests and phone calls. 
• Prepare simple IV admixtures (excluding chemotherapy, biotherapy) accurately, consistent with IV policies and procedures (USP<797> and USP<800>). 
• Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures. 
• Assist in performing various duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Minimum:

High school graduate or equivalent

Experience/Other Qualifications:

Required: Must be 18 years

Preferred: Experience as a hospital pharmacy technician

Certification/ Licensure / Registration: ,

Required: Registered with the Board of Pharmacy as  Pharmacy Technician

Preferred: PTCB Certification

Preferred: Accredited training in sterile products preparation and IV Admixture Certification

West Boca Medical Center (WBMC) is part of the Palm Beach Health Network and has been serving southern Palm Beach and northern Broward counties for over 37 years. WBMC offers general medical and surgical care, orthopedics, a robotic surgery program, a state-of-the art breast imaging center, womens and childrens services and the only level III NICU in southern Palm Beach County.
