Job Summary
Under general supervision may perform a variety of routine tasks which include, but are not limited to the operation of business machines (computers, copier, fax, etc.), data entry, receipt, processing, and distribution of supplies, equipment and materials to various departments within the hospital. Processing of all outboard shipments.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for shipping/receiving all incoming/outgoing deliveries to and from the hospital.
2. Inputs all incoming/outgoing items into the computer.
3. Documents all necessary transactions and files according to department standards.
4. Reports any problems with shipping/receiving, distribution to management.
5. Determines destination of received items and ensures timely delivery.
6. Keeps working area clean and neat.
7. Monitors security of area.
8. Complies with all customer service and process improvement philosophies. Understands and follows all
hospital, health, human relations, federal, state and local safety, personnel and departmental policies,
procedures, laws and guidelines.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma.
2. Three to six months on the job training.
Skills Required
1. Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
2. Ability to pay close attention to detail.
3. Good communication skills.
4. Physical ability commensurate with work requirement.
5. Ability to lift heavy boxes (up to 50-60 pounds).
6. Ability to walk and push/pull supply carts to various areas of the hospital to pick up/deliver supplies and materials.
7. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to sort and deliver items accurately.
8. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
9. Good organizational skills.
10. Interpersonal skills necessary to provide assistance in response to problems.
11. Computer skills necessary.
